Paper Vs. Inflatables for Void Fill

In the world of plastic or paper packaging, this is something that we’ve started to ask a lot of times. Void fill is one of those things that, while it may be a small thing to think about, there are actually some things to consider and factor into this.  There are so many different void fill types, and it’s important to understand that each of them has their place in life. We’ll go over both of them, and the pros and cons of both.

Paper

Paper is great for cushioning, and provides some of the best bracing and blocking effects for a lot of people’s items. It also comes in the forms of sheets, and also is something that you can put through equipment that’s automated.  The equipment takes it, creating roll stock, with a log that’s crimped with some bulk to shape up the carton, offering a great specific sort of paper that’s only used for certain systems because of the width of the roll, and other features that are there.

There are different systems that also use a shipping means to set this up that detects the fill that’s there, and also will help to dispense the different paper that’s needed for packs and the like. There is no method that’s specific on how they are put within the box, but it does secure your contents. The paper provides also some green types of benefits by being totally recyclable, and is made directly through content that is. It’s vital for customers that want some eco-friendly options that offer sustainability.

Paper does have a few disadvantages though. It’s not compressible, and sometimes, there are instances where you might use too little, causing the products to get hurt or damaged. It also does cause  the box to be almost too heavy, adding up, and then, it can move around, and it can also increase the charges for shipping that some people try to desperately avoid as well.

Inflatable Void Fill

This is known in many cases as air pillows, and this is something that’s become more popular. It’s incredibly strong, with different gauges of thickness, and this is something that’s beneficial because when you get rid of bags after the carton gets shipped out, they get to about 1% of the volume that they were originally when they were deflated. You can usually recycle this too, and they’re pretty easy for someone to use, don’t dry out the hands, and also reduces the risk of paper cuts that are there. they tend to be light, and may even get branded too depending on this.

There are new advantages too, and with more recyclable options, it reduces the space in landfills. One of the biggest complaints is basically learning how to manipulate this correctly, and some complain that with sharp objects they don’t worry because they pop.

What to use

There are a few things that you should focus on with this. When you’re looking at the price, you may find that the inflatable bags are a lot more eco friendly. If you want something that’s easy to dispose of and get rid of, this is also good.

If you’re trying to package small items though, the paper is the better option, since normal air pillows will not fit. But remember, everyone’s scenarios are quite different, and there are a lot of things to consider when you’re trying to get this sorted out. So keep that in mind, and determine what’s best for your needs, and what you can work with as well for you.
